CHILD DAY-CARE FACILITY

Witje Wiebel Kinderdagverblijf vzw wishes to establish a new child day-care centre on campus because the new merged hospital will be built in the location of the current day-care facility.

A master plan has been drawn up for the site. The child day-care centre will be the first project to be realized in the framework of the master plan, on the corner of the R4 and Kortrijksesteenweg. This child day-care facility will be built with subsidies from VIPA (Flemish Infrastructure Fund).
Current capacity amounts to 49 children; in a first phase, this will be raised to 56 in a building that has been conceived to accommodate 70 children.

The new child day-care facility, which is also the first project to be built in the framework of the master plan, will also be integrated in every phase of the master plan. Initially, it will be an independent building, on the location of the current priest's residence, and will be oriented towards the R4. After the master plan’s basic infrastructure has been completed, including the boulevard and car traffic below, the child day-care facility will also be grafted onto the boulevard, which constitutes the internal axis around which all other care-related functions will be developed.

The child day-care facility will be integrated in a green embankment slope, which rises together with the bridge slope of Kortrijksesteenweg. As a result, the building itself will not determine the image of the campus and can thus be easily integrated in a representative building, to be built at a later stage, at the campus entrance.
